Gmelina philippensis or Parrot's Beak

Gmelina philippensis is native to Southeast Asia and the Philipines.  It has a special yellow hanging flower and grows like a Bougainvillea: hanging, climbing branches with thorns. The plant can grow as high as 2 - 3 meters (6,5 - 10ft). As a hedge it is almost impenetrable. Does well in Curaçao. Needs irrigation (not daily). Is very wind tolerant. Must be pruned regularly.
